Al-Mowasat Hospital in Dammam has obtained the institutional accreditation of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as an educational and training center for physicians and health practitioners in various medical specialties and the various programs of the Commission. This decision was also accompanied by Al-Mouwasat Hospital obtaining programmatic accreditation by the Commission for the completed Saudi Fellowship Program in Internal Medicine, after the hospital successfully passed all the requirements and criteria set by the Commission to obtain accreditation. Note that four other fellowship programs are in progress for Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Diagnostic Radiology and Clinical Pharmacy.

 There is no doubt that this accreditation reflects the great development enjoyed by Mouwasat Hospitals and the capabilities and high equipment they possess, as well as highly qualified medical and technical cadres. As well as the availability of a training and rehabilitation environment that is compatible with international health standards and requirements, and this accreditation is a strong supporter of continuing medical education programs that will contribute, God willing, to raising the efficiency of Saudi doctors in hospitals and health centers in our dear kingdom.

Riyadh: Mouwasat Hospital

A multidisciplinary medical team at Mouwasat Hospital in Riyadh successfully treated a critically ill patient suffering from acute septic shock resulting from acute pancreatitis, in addition to biliary obstruction caused by stones in the common bile duct.

Emergency Admission of a Critically Ill Patient

The patient was transferred from another hospital to the Emergency Department at Mouwasat Hospital in Riyadh. She was in critical condition, suffering from acute septic shock and acute pancreatitis, along with biliary obstruction caused by stones in the common bile duct.

The patient was admitted under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abdel Fattah Habib, Consultant in General and Gastrointestinal Surgery. The necessary laboratory investigations and diagnostic imaging examinations were performed to assess her condition and establish an appropriate treatment plan.

A Treatment Plan Combining Surgery and Endoscopy

Coordination was established with Dr. Mohamed Negm, Consultant in Therapeutic Biliary Endoscopy, to perform an urgent therapeutic intervention combining surgery and endoscopy in a single procedure.

The treatment plan was designed to manage the common bile duct stones and biliary obstruction, while also completing the laparoscopic removal of the gallbladder.

Laparoscopic Gallbladder Removal and Bile Duct Stone Extraction

During the procedure, the medical team performed a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. A guidewire was inserted through the cystic duct to facilitate accurate and safe access to the bile ducts using therapeutic endoscopy.

The medical team successfully fragmented and removed the stones causing the obstruction. A plastic stent was also inserted to maintain the flow of bile before the laparoscopic removal of the gallbladder was successfully completed.

Improvement Following the Procedure

Following the procedure, the patient was transferred to an inpatient room to continue receiving the necessary medical care. Her health condition showed significant improvement.

The patient was subsequently discharged from the hospital in a stable condition, with a regular follow-up plan arranged through the outpatient clinics.

Riyadh – Mouwasat Hospital

Mouwasat Hospital in Riyadh has recorded a new medical success story after a multidisciplinary medical team successfully treated a patient who arrived at the Emergency Department suffering from acute hemorrhagic shock and multiple serious injuries following a gunshot wound.

Emergency Department Response

The patient was transported to the Emergency Department at Mouwasat Hospital in Riyadh by the Saudi Red Crescent. He had sustained a gunshot wound that entered through the right side of his back and exited through the abdomen.

The injury caused severe damage to the abdominal wall with protrusion of parts of the intestines, in addition to fractures and extensive damage to the rib cage.

Immediately upon the patient’s arrival, the medical team managed the case in accordance with approved Advanced Trauma Life Support protocols. His condition was urgently assessed, and he was prepared for immediate surgical intervention.

Emergency Exploratory Abdominal Surgery

The patient underwent emergency exploratory abdominal surgery under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abdel Fattah Habib, Consultant in General and Gastrointestinal Surgery.

The procedure revealed severe damage and bleeding in the right lobe of the liver, along with a superficial injury to the right kidney. These findings required precise surgical intervention to control the bleeding and manage the injuries.

Multidisciplinary Medical Teamwork

A multidisciplinary medical team participated in managing the patient’s injuries and controlling the bleeding. The team included:
