Thank God. the medical team at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Medina was able to end the suffering of a 71-year-old patient who was suffering from severe pain in the shoulder joint and difficulty in movement, which led to stiffness in the joint and an inability to move it.

Immediately upon the patient's arrival at the hospital, medical examinations, radiographs, clinical examination, and X-rays were conducted, which revealed the presence of advanced joint roughness and the inability to move it. The available treatment options were discussed, as the patient had exhausted all available conservative treatment methods (physical therapy, joint injections, analgesics, etc.), in addition to visiting several orthopedic surgeons. After discussing with Dr. Karim Al-Sayed - Consultant in Orthopedic Surgery and Knee and Shoulder Arthroscopy - with the patient’s family, the decision was made for the operation, which is a complete replacement of the shoulder joint to get rid of the pain and restore the ability to move the shoulder and practice daily life normally, as the joint was stabilized without the need to use surgical cement despite his advanced age. For the patient, performing such an operation requires very high surgical skills and advanced techniques to obtain the desired result.

This operation is considered one of the most advanced operations in bone and joint surgeries, and after two days of checking on the patient’s health condition, the patient was qualified for discharge and follow-up under the supervision of the orthopedic consultant who performed the operation.

It is worth mentioning that this type of operation is considered the most advanced in the field of orthopedic surgery, and this is in line with the vision of Al-Mouwasat Medical Services Company in attracting competencies and precise medical specialties while providing the latest medical technologies and equipment.
