Saving the Life of Newborn and Preventing Limb Amputation at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Dammam
The medical team at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Dammam succeeded in saving the life of newborn baby, who weighed 1.3 kilograms, and preventing the amputation of her upper and lower limbs due to a life-threatening gangrene infection.
As soon as the newborn arrived at Al-Mouwasat Hospital, transferred from another hospital in the Eastern Region, Dr. Mundher Khalil, a consultant and head of the Pediatrics department, assessed her condition. He conducted all the necessary tests, which revealed blood poisoning, intestinal inflammation, platelet disintegration, and a bacterial infection. Dr. Mundher Khalil promptly devised a treatment plan to save the child's life while preserving her upper and lower limbs, preventing amputation.
The newborn was discharged after three weeks of intensive treatment. She is now in good health, her limbs saved from amputation, and her weight increased to 2 kilograms.
It's worth mentioning that the treatment of such cases relies on modern medical technology and highly trained medical staff.
