Life-Saving Intervention for a Patient with Intestinal Gangrene at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Riyadh
A patient in critical condition was recently brought to the Emergency Department at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Riyadh, transferred from another medical facility. He was suffering from severe septic shock, acute kidney failure, and significant heart weakness — all triggered by advanced gangrene in his intestines and colon.
From the moment he arrived, the hospital’s critical care team acted swiftly. He was admitted directly to the Intensive Care Unit, where he received urgent life support and stabilization. Once stable enough, the surgical team prepared him for an emergency exploratory operation.
The surgery, led by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Fattah Habib and his dedicated surgical team, revealed gangrene in the ascending colon and around 50 cm of the small intestine. The affected areas were carefully removed, and a temporary colostomy was performed to help his body recover.
As his condition gradually improved and vital signs stabilized, the medical team scheduled a second surgery to close the colostomy. That operation also went smoothly, and the patient continued to recover well.
Thanks to God’s grace and the hospital’s exceptional care, the patient was discharged in good health. He is now attending regular follow-up appointments at the outpatient clinic to continue his recovery and ensure long-term wellness.
This case reflects the deep commitment and high-level expertise of Al-Mouwasat Hospital’s medical staff. With state-of-the-art equipment, a fully integrated care environment, and a team that puts patients first, the hospital continues to handle the most critical emergencies with precision and compassion.
